“Family Matters”, hosted by the Focolare Movement, brought over 250 participants to Maynooth University for a family day on Saturday, 29th April 2017. A dynamic, interactive programme of interviews, panel discussions, talks and personal stories highlighted the challenges and joys of living as a Christian family in Ireland today.

Pope Francis is set to visit Ireland in August 2018 for the World Meeting of Families which will draw many thousands of families from all over the world. As preparations get underway for the huge event in Dublin, the Focolare Movement, which has its centre in Prosperous, Co. Kildare, has organised a one day event on the theme of Family Matters at the Aula Maxima, South Campus, St Patrick’s College, Maynooth on Saturday 29th April 2018.

The 9th anniversary of Chiara Lubich’s death will be on March 14. The theme chosen to mark this anniversary is the family, a theme very much in keeping with the dynamics opened by the Synod of Bishops and the subsequent Apostolic exhortation of Pope Francis, Amoris Laetitia.
