The Communion Report of the Focolare Movement is not simply a collection of data, but a living story. Presented in Rome on 6th November, the document looks beyond numbers to the real changes taking place in people’s lives and in the communities where they live. As the report itself states, it seeks to “look at the change generated in people and contexts” and to invite everyone “to become involved, to walk together, so that fraternity can take shape in actions that transform reality.” The Report is now available in English here:
This shared journey aims to respond to many forms of hunger: material, spiritual and educational. It is about restoring dignity through work and education, accompanying people through words, example and practical support, and building relationships that heal and empower.
The report reflects the life of a movement founded in 1943 by Chiara Lubich and now present in 150 countries, with around 1,700 communities and focolares. Today, the Focolare Movement is led by President Margaret Karram and Co-President Jesús Morán. Its pages are filled with faces and stories: families, children, young people, prisoners, homeless people, refugees, victims of addiction, those who are persecuted, and people affected by political, social and climate instability. They are the true protagonists of this journey, alongside all those who share the dream of a more united world.
For Margaret Karram, producing a Communion Report is closely linked to transparency and shared responsibility. In recent years, marked by a strong emphasis on listening and participation within the Church, she has seen accountability as an essential step forward. This is the third edition of the report, building on earlier efforts that were more general but already pointed towards openness and clarity.
Beyond figures, the report highlights what the spirit of the Focolare Movement generates in concrete terms. It shows a commitment not only expressed in ideals, but lived through action: reaching out to suffering, responding to needs, and using “hands as well as hearts.” This is why the report carries the title “You did it to me”—a reminder that every act of care restores dignity and helps shape a generation capable of contributing positively to society.
The report also underlines the link between fraternity and peace. Where people feel welcomed, respected and valued, relationships change. Hope grows, and the roots of conflict are weakened. For this reason, the Communion Report seeks to spread confidence and hope, encouraging collaboration with others who share the same desire for justice and peace.
At its heart, the report keeps people at the centre. It recognises that peace cannot be built without first addressing basic needs and injustices. By doing so, those who receive support are not only helped—they become active partners in building a different future.
In a world marked by conflict, isolation and fragmentation, the Focolare Movement sees human relationships as a priority. Even in an age of constant digital connection, true closeness and reciprocity remain essential. Where relationships are healed, families and communities are strengthened, and the social fabric begins to recover.
