If you’re aged 18–30 and want more than chitchat about the future, the Summer Academy 2025 could be your next big step. This unique, week-long experience brings together young people from across Europe to tackle the big questions: about society, identity, unity, and the polarities that define our world.
And the best part? You don’t have to wait until August to dive in.
At 6pm Irish time on Sunday, 16th June, you’re invited to an open online session where you can meet the team, hear from past participants, and explore how this academy could be a turning point for you.
What Is the Summer Academy?
Taking place from 10th -17th August 2025 at Mariënkroon, the Netherlands, the Summer Academy is designed for young adults looking to engage critically with the world around them, through conversation, collaboration and community. It’s more than a conference or course: it’s an immersive experience of learning, reflection, and intercultural dialogue.
Participants will join experts and peers for a dynamic week of:
- Thematic lectures and dialogues
- Interdisciplinary workshops
- Creative and reflective spaces
- Shared meals and cultural exchange
- Time for fun, rest, and community building
Theme for 2025: Exploring Polarities
This year’s theme, “Exploring Polarities,” invites participants to grapple with tensions that influence both personal and public life—such as:
- Tradition vs. innovation
- Individualism vs. community
- Stability vs. change
- Freedom vs. responsibility
Rather than choosing sides, the Summer Academy explores how these polarities can be embraced, held in creative tension, and used as a source of insight and transformation.
Learning4Unity: The Academy’s Foundation
At the heart of the Summer Academy is Learning4Unity, an approach rooted in the Focolare Movement’s commitment to dialogue, peacebuilding, and mutual respect. It’s about creating a shared space where diverse perspectives are not only welcomed but needed. Where questions matter as much as answers, and where unity is built through deep listening and collaboration.
Who Can Come?
The Summer Academy is open to:
- Young people aged 18–30
- From any background or field of study
- Comfortable communicating in English
- Curious, open-minded, and ready to contribute
