Founder of L’Arche, Jean Vanier, true apostle of “the least”, has died. The Focolare joins in remembering him with immense gratitude. We recall him together with Chiara and other founders of movements and new communities in St Peter’s Square for the historic meeting of Pentecost 1998.
The Church and the Holy Spirit’ was the theme of this year’s gathering for church leaders at the Focolare Centre in Welwyn Garden City on 31 January.
Chiara Lubich lived on this earth from January 22, 1920 until March 14, 2008.
A mass will be celebrated in her memory on Sunday 13 March at 7pm in Milltown Parish Church, Sts. Columbanus and Gall, Milltown Road, Dublin 6

The Focolare Open Day at Curryhills on Saturday 27th June was a day of surprises. Surprising to hear from Mariella from Malta of how saying Yes to God lead her to spend sixteen years in a Moslem country. For her and the other members of Focolare there, whether you were Catholic or Protestant faded into insignificance. The important thing was to be a Christian and to witness, as a small minority, to the joy and truth of the Gospel based on love.
